Do you think pot should be legal?

It was legal until 1925. Why people think it’s so horrible for you is beyond me. Pot is no worse for you than cigarettes or alcohol. Nobody has ever died from smoking pot. Bob Marley actually died from an infection from a foot fungus and not cancer from smoking pot. I love the way people refer to it as a “gateway drug.” There are a million things hemp can be used for: i.e. clothing, rope, textiles, buildings, concrete, ethanol, etc., etc. Its cash value is twice that of corn and wheat put together. I believe they should legalize and tax the daylights out of it. Does anyone else agree or disagree?
Who would like to take a shot at this one? You just might win ten points?

Ok, the thing about pot in USA and UK that is amazing is that we call ourselves “free” countries, but yet we can’t grow a plant on our property and do what we want with it, but if we were in the jungle and living off the land the way God (whatever God you believe in) intended, then we would have every right to do as we please, since it’s a natural thing and many tribes have used it in rituals or for medicine and what not. The ignorance of it all is amazing, that so many people vote against it because of what they were taught by propaganda, yet they call themselves free. I mean, wouldn’t it make sense to just look at other countries or cities that have legalized it or decriminalized it (or just overlooked it) and look at how it affected their society. Its either legal or decriminalized in places like Amsterdam, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Jamaica, Nepal, Switzerland etc.
Now why don’t these geniuses who think it has any negative affect on society, just take a look at these countries BEFORE and AFTER it was made legal, or decriminalized, or tolerated. The best way to determine wether something is detrimental to a society is to look at how it’s affected other communities where it’s already been accepted. I mean that’s what rational thinking people would do isnt it? Where is the common sense in our country?

There’s been all kinds of smaller independent studies that once lied and said it causes cancer and makes you dumb permanently and all this and that, but Donald Tashkin is the government’s lead cancer scientist at UCLA, and he concluded in 2006, along with his team, that it does not cause any adverse effects on a person after 20 years of heavy use. We now know the truth about marijuana because he ran the largest study of all time, which lasted 20 years, so we can now see the long term effects, and they are not negative. The ironic thing about it, is that the government once used his research to prove that marijuana was BAD. He now recanted his original statements and says that it is not bad at all, because he admits that it’s been 20 years since they began the study, and we are just now finally seeing the long term effects of heavy daily use. I can say from personal experience, that I’m self employed, I travel to Asia twice a year, and I’m 27 years old. I’m very successful, and I have a prescription for marijuana. I’ve been smoking it daily for the past 13 years, long before I ever had a prescription, and it does not effect my cognitive skills one bit. If anything, it helps me get my work done. I can focus on things better. Because I’m self employed, I can talk about places I worked for without fear of termination now. I worked for Google, Cisco, Fenwick and West Law Firm, Northrop Grumman, and the U.S. Postal Service before all those. Without trying to brag, I can say that I’m an intelligent person and I was able to get all these jobs simply by using “techniques” to pass drug tests. I can now admit that while at Google and Cisco, I smoked out with my coworkers on our lunch breaks. Tons of people at those companies are stoners. Most people would never even imagine that their internet is being run by stoners lol, but it’s true. It’s just not out in the open. I challenge anybody to find 1 single article where anybody has ever died from marijuana, just 1.

Michael Phelps smoked marijuana and instead of people using common sense and looking at it like this: “Well he’s the world’s greatest swimmer and he smokes marijuana so it must not have an effect on one’s athletic ability”, they chose to look at it like “Oh my god he’s a role model, how dare he do such a thing with all the little kids watching him, let’s take away his sponsorships and crucify him!”.
Arnold Schwarzenegger smoked pot and hes a governor. Barack Obama smoked pot and he’s the President. Bill Clinton, the list goes on and on.

Also, as long as America continues to make marijuana illegal, the violence associated with it in South America will continue, just like alcohol prohibition allowed people like Al Capone and his gang to flourish. Whenever you try to ban things that people consume, it doesn’t stop the trade, the trade just goes underground and becomes violent.
