New acoustic guitar for husband on 1-yr anniversary. What to buy?
I want to get my husband a nice acoustic guitar for our one year anniversary. He is very talented. I haven’t a clue what I should be looking for. There are so many to choose from. I would like to stay under $1000.
What are some of the best sounding acoustic guitars?
I know they all sound different.
Any suggestions on specific brands and series I should look into?
What good online sites can I shop at?
We don’t have very many music stores in around the area which we live.
Thank you!
I know this isn’t the answer you’re probably looking for – but if your husband is an experienced player (and I hope he is if you’re looking in that price range) – then you probably DON’T want to buy a guitar for him, unless he previously expressed interest in a particular one.
I mean – i’m sure he’ll love whatever you get him, because he’ll appreciate the thought and sentiment of it.
However, experienced musicians have very particular tastes when it comes to instruments. There are many great guitars that I hate and simply wouldn’t want to play. There was actually a thread on this topic in GuitarMasterClass the other day. You’ll see a lot of experienced players have particular tastes that go against what the majority of people think are “great” guitars:

If he’s a beginning player, then your question is totally fine and you can safely get him something – but if this is the case, i’d recommend a lower budget.
As such, it’s my recommendation that you give him a gift certificate to his favorite music store (or if you don’t know, you can’t go wrong with musiciansfriend.com or Guitar Center), or just take him to the store and say “surprise! pick out something you like”
I know it doesn’t have the same excitement as getting an already-bought and wrapped gift… but I think it’s best.

Nevermind $7.99 If Nevermind’s sound is familiar now, it’s only because thousands of rock records that followed it were trying very hard to cop its style. It tears out of the speakers like a cannonball, from the punk-turbo-charged riff of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” onward, magnifying and distilling the wounded rage of 15 years of the rock underground into a single impassioned roar. Few albums have occupied the cu… |
