I’m partial to David Gilmour on Comfortably Numb its probably the best riff of all time.
Add whoever you want . I forgot Steve Vai who happens to be one of my favorites.
There is no question that Les Paul was without a doubt the greatest guitarist who ever lived. Chet Atkins (which wasn’t on this list), would be a very close second.
I would put, as part of my second group of great guitarists, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Page, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Walter Becker (not on this list) of Steely Dan.
Honorable mention: Peter Townshend (who has been vastly underrated his entire career), Carl Wilson (Beach Boys) who was exceptional but overshadowed by the group itself, and Angus Young (who, besides looking like a wacko on stage could play his @$$ off).
Impressive list to be sure but these are the ones who have really impressed me personally.
